PROJECTS
Solo
PE has been performing solo trumpet concerts since 2002. Beginning with the critically acclaimed More is More on Evan Parker's psi label in 2006, Evans has relentlessly forged a unique musical grammer on the trumpet that dissolves notions of traditional or "extended" technique, harnessing formal control and a range of timbre and dynamics more suggestive of electronic music. Evans has performed solo concerts worldwide, with tours extended across the USA, Canada, South America, China, Japan, Europe and the UK.
Being & Becoming
The band features some of the most virtuosic and forward-thinking young musicians in Jazz and Contemporary music today; vibraphonist Joel Ross (Immanuel Wilkins, Marquis Hill, Blue Note recording artist) bassist Nick Jozwiak (Ravi Coltrane, Aaron Burnett, Dave Liebman) and drummer Michael Ode (Theo Croker, Isaiah Collier, Joey Defrancesco). Each of these players are widely known for their individuality, virtuosity and deep musical curiosity.
SYMPHONY
The musicians in the ensemble are each accomplished soloists in their own right: Alice Teyssier (flutes, vocals), Nick Jozwiak (bass, electric bass, cello), Levy Lorenzo (percussion, live electronics). The group was formed in 2022, a natural extension of Evans' work with his Ensemble (2016-18).
Forever 21
Evans' midlife crisis band. Andy Berman (guitar) and Michael Ode (drums) are two of the most outrageous and forward-reaching virtuosos on their instruments. As an improvising trio they explore the outer reaches with style. Their debut recording in the form of a concert film and audio download will be available in the summer of 2023.
DUO
Stemeseder and Evans have been performing together as a duo since 2021 although their history extends to innovative ensembles based in NYC and Berlin since 2015. Their approach has been called a "totalistic approach to jazz, improvisation and modern music". They have performed in the USA and Europe at major clubs and festivals, and in 2023 will release a live concert film from the iconic Record Shop in Red Hook Brooklyn.
Pulverize the Sound
Peter Evans - trumpets
Tim Dahl - electric bass, vocals
Mike Pride- drums, percussion
Pulverize the Sound was formed in the intensely collaborative, hybridized, prolific and promiscuous scene of NYC experimental music. Its members have clocked in time with musicians and bands from a huge variety of scenes, always ending up in a place peripheral to any definable genre. Collectively, the members of Pulverize the Sound have worked with Lydia Lunch, Evan Parker, Frank Lowe, Child Abuse, Mary Halvorson, JG Thirlwell, Archie Shepp, Craig Taborn, Weasel Walter, MDC, and Mick Barr. In over more than decade of constant rehearsal and performance in the fertile DIY scene of NYC Pulverize has explored an enormous range of original music from delicate chamber music textures to sprawling modernist composition and free improvisation. PTS's third release BLACK is their first fully improvised album, issued by Relative Pitch in November of 2022.
